Make Wedding Stress Disappear

(a La Creme Guide for Surviving Your Wedding!)

Is there a wedding in your future – or the future of someone you know? You may want to know that there are a few secrets that will make many of the stresses related to planning a wedding disappear!

Did you know ???

THE DRESS:

That most wedding dresses take 6 months to order and allow time for alterations? If you’ve delayed looking until just a few months before the wedding you will have to choose an “off the rack” gown.
Mothers of the Bride and Groom need to order their dresses 4 to 5 months in advance as well! Most people don’t know this until it’s too late !
Don’t wait to lose weight to order your dress! It can be taken in if you DO lose the weight – but you may lose out on the dress of your dreams if you wait too long.

INVITATIONS:

Invitations also need to be ordered early – about two months before you plan to send them out.
Choose invitations that match your theme – they help set the tone for the whole wedding.
Check with the post office about the size of the invitations to avoid any unforeseen extra postage charges for oversize envelopes.

SHOES:

If your gown is floor length, make sure you try it on with your shoes (the exact height you’re going to wear) to avoid having it come in too long or short and causing last minute panic.
Always pack an extra pair of shoes for the reception (ballet flats work best) for dancing. No matter HOW comfortable or well made your shoes are, they’re new and will become uncomfortable quickly once you start dancing the night away!

ATTENDANTS:

Bridesmaid’s dresses should be chosen early. Find a time when all of your attendants can get together and be measured. Make certain the style suits all of them.
Don’t order flower girl dresses or little boy’s tuxes too early as they tend to grow quickly. Often all that’s needed is about 6 to 8 weeks for delivery.

WEDDING THEME:

Choose your wedding theme – Vintage, Traditional, Glamour, Garden, Destination, etc. and stick to it to avoid an unflattering mix of styles!
